Vision
Our vision is to cultivate a climate-resilient future for California’s Inland Deserts by including diverse community perspectives backed by scientific expertise into practical climate change assessments. We are committed to equipping stakeholders, particularly those from vulnerable and marginalized communities, with the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to navigate and mitigate the impacts of climate change. By prioritizing equity, resilience, and enduring partnerships, we will foster strategies that protect the region’s ecosystems, community health, economies, and cultural heritage from the escalating threats posed by a changing climate.
The Fifth Climate Change Assessment by California's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation aims to help communities handle impacts of climate change. It gathers data and insights to guide decisions, especially for areas most affected by climate change. The project involves experts and local groups working together to address California’s unique climate challenges. For more information, visit the Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation.
Climate Assessment
Engagment Plan
Our goal is to ensure the Inland Deserts report reflects local priorities and is accessible to all communities in the region. We are actively engaging with key stakeholders, including tribes, community groups, and local governments, through outreach, events, and feedback opportunities.
The engagement process is guided by a collaborative planning effort tailored to regional needs. Progress will be tracked with clear metrics, and we’ll adapt as the project evolves. By leveraging our networks and community connections, we aim to create a report that resonates and drives meaningful action across the Inland Deserts.
